The purpose of this new series is to build children’s confidence and enthusiasm for mathematics through the fun-filled lessons and activities. A mastery of mathematical concepts at a tender age will allow children to tackle them with joy at primary school level. Mathematical Skills 1 was designed to develop a child’s number sense. Children learn to say, count and write numbers 1-50. Each number begins with a colourful illustration that introduces it. They also learn to count backwards and attempt numerous games such as number hunt and maze. Procedure for teaching Always give enough time to each child to observe a new page and talk freely about it. Guide the child to discover the concepts introduced and taught, through his own active exploration of materials available to him/her. Repeat pages, if you discover a need to do so – to enhance better understanding. Follow up any work in the book with personal-guided works in drawing books, colouring books, etc. in order to make pupils familiar with and master the topic learnt in this book.
