Basic Agriculture for Primary Schools (Second Edition) is our deliberate response to address the thematic approach of content organisation recommended by the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), to help pupils to achieve the overall objectives of the national curriculum on agriculture.
These objectives are to enable the pupils to:
1 develop interest in agriculture;
2 acquire basic knowledge and skills in agriculture;
3 apply the knowledge and skills acquired to meet societal needs;
4 take advantage of the numerous opportunities offered by
agriculture; and
5 become prepared for further studies in agriculture.
The various themes covered in this book are adequate to
provide the knowledge and skills required by pupils at the Basic
Education level.
