Basic Agriculture for Primary Schools (Second Edition) is our response to the thematic approach of content organisation recommended by the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC).
The overall objectives of the national curriculum on agriculture are to enable the pupils to:
i) develop interest in agriculture;
ii) acquire basic knowledge and skills in agriculture;
iii) apply the knowledge and skills acquired to meet societal needs;
iv) take advantage of the numerous opportunities offered by
agriculture; and
v) become prepared for further studies in agriculture.
This book will help the pupils to achieve all these objectives.
The various themes have been considered adequate to cover
knowledge and skills required at the Basic Education level.
